ABOUT

Wild Roots Nature School is about raising awareness of all the little things that make up the big picture in Nature; from beneath the ground to the boundless sky. Our little explorers, ranging from ages 6 to 12 years old will be introduced to the natural sciences through basic field lessons in botany, herpetology, ornithology, entomology and more.

As both children and adults step further away from their innate connection to the natural world, this once inherently intimate relationship is damaged and is a relationship Wild Roots hopes to mend. A study conducted in 2002 found that children were better at identifying Pokémon characters than local plants and animals. At Wild Roots we would build upon our natural senses to teach children lifelong identification skills of their native ecosystem or local bio-regions.

We promote nature-based lessons with untethered exploration and discovery to engage a sense of wonder, connectivity and natural awareness. Our philosophy is that Nature is our greatest teacher and there is always a lesson to be learned. We believe by creating a connection and appreciation for the natural world at a young age, we can contribute to a more nurturing and mindful world for all life.
